AUTOCHTHONOUS GRAPE VARIETIES

We remain faithful to the traditional autochthonous grape varieties, unique in the world: Macabeo, Xarel·lo and Parellada for the white and Trepat for the rosé.

MACABEOFineness and elegance

These are the plots from the coastal area, with gravel and nodules and poor soils, provide us with grape fruity aromas and green apple, which add fineness and elegance to the AGUSTI TORELLO MATA’s blending. The Macabeo variety predominates in all of them.

  • Landscape: Sitges – Coastal area.
  • Height: From 0 to 200 m.
  • Soil: Gravel, caliche nodules, poor soils.

XAREL.LOBody and structure

These plots are from the central area of the Penedés, where the calcareous clay lands of vineyards are located between 200 and 300 metres above sea level. The Xarel·lo variety expresses its most vegetal character and provides body and structure.

  • Landscape: Sant Sadurní d’Anoia - Vall d’Anoia Foix.
  • Height: Between 200 and 400 m.
  • Soil: Calcareous clay.

PARELLADAAroma and acidity

Our Parellada plots give us tropical fruit aromas and are located at an altitude of 500 metres, on shale and sandy soils from our Ubac state in Mediona.

  • Landscape: SMediona’s Castle – Mountain viticulture.
  • Height: Between 500 and 900 m.
  • Soil: Sandy soil and shale.

TREPAT- Fineness and freshness

Trepat, which is grown in high mountain plots like Parellada, is the red variety we use to make the rosé Cava. The day/night heat exchange gives us incredible red fruit aromas and freshness.

  • Height: Between 500 and 900 m.
  • Soil: Sandy soil and shale.
